HP Z24i G2: more space, better colours
The HP Z24i G2 is a monitor for anyone who understands that 16:10 simply works more comfortably than the standard widescreen ratio. With a resolution of 1920 x 1200, you get just that extra vertical space that makes the difference with long documents or timelines. No frills, but a sturdily built screen with colours that are accurate straight out of the box.
Why this monitor belongs on your desk:
- That bit extra: The 16:10 ratio gives you more overview. You see more of two windows, scroll less and see more of your work
- Colour-accurate without the hassle: Thanks to factory calibration and 99% sRGB coverage, the colours are true to life. Ideal for web design and office use, without spending hours on settings yourself
- Seamless multitasking: Thanks to the wafer-thin bezels on three sides, you place two side by side without a thick black bar in the middle (do note: this monitor doesn’t support daisy-chaining)
- Future-proof and robust: No cheap plastic, but a solid aluminium stand and connections for both modern (DisplayPort, HDMI) and older (VGA) equipment
Honest advice about colour
The Z24i G2 is an excellent workhorse for web designers, architects and office professionals who rely on sRGB. For high-end HDR video editing or print work (AdobeRGB), this is a perfect second screen, but for the main work we recommend a more specialist model.

HP (Hewlett-Packard) is one of the oldest and largest computer brands in the world. HP chose breadth: they offer a solution for every segment, from simple entry-level laptops to advanced business machines. That makes HP a brand you'll come across in almost any office, school or living room.
Their design philosophy is mainly about balance: ease of use, sturdiness and recognisable design that doesn't stand out for the wrong reasons. In the business lines such as the ProBook and EliteBook the emphasis is on reliability, security and compatibility with existing corporate IT. For consumer models HP pays more attention to looks and price awareness, so there's an HP for almost every budget.
One caveat is that HP used to bundle a lot of bloatware (extra pre-installed software) it earned money from via software suppliers. That caused frustration: starting a new laptop often meant a thorough clean-up first. Fortunately HP has partly stepped back from this in recent years, so modern Pavilion-series models contain less cluttered software and are ready to use faster.
